The control head Type 8683 offers all functions for modern decentralized automation of pneumatically operated hygienic and aseptic process valves. It features the complete pneumatic control, position monitoring, feedback and diagnostic functions up to bus communication. Thanks to its universal design, the control head Type 8683 can be combined with all commercial butterfly, ball, single-seat and double-seat valves. Regardless of manufacturer and valve series, this enables standardization for a consistent automation solution throughout the plant. Depending on the valve function and automation requirements, different variants of Type 8683 always offer a suitable solution. Approvals according to ATEX, IECEx and FM enable the use in Ex zone 1/21, 2/22 or Class I/II Division I/II. Several automatic teach functions replace any manual adjustments during commissioning. If required, the control head can be started via the teach function even during ongoing processes. For an easy process monitoring on site, the coloured light ring signals the valve position while the diagnostic/NAMUR LED offers additional information such as maintenance requirements or error states. For use in food & beverage as well as pharmaceutical & biotech applications, high requirements for hygienic design, maximum IP protection as well as chemical and mechanical resistance are met for maximum reliability and durability. Types 8682 and 8683 form a device family. For the user, this results in consistency in terms of functions, operating concept, electrical interfaces, optical signalling, digital communication and approval standards. In addition, both types use the same mechanical actuator adaptation.
